Adobe Application Manager Error A12E1

May 10, 2012 10:21 PM

Tags: #error #adobe #application #manager #a12e1

Whilst waiting for my Cloud Membership, I thought I would try downloading the Application Manager, however I get an error code of A12E1 and get told to come to the forums for help.  I have searched and cant find out what this error code means.

I have tried to download for a second time, but still get the same problem.

Could you just open a log file named PDApp.log availble at following location :-

    Win: %temp%/PDApp.log

    Mac: ~/Library/Logs/PDApp.log

Just send the last few lines (from the End) of the log file.

    Also:

If there a process named 'AAM Update Notifier' is running. Kill this prcoess and then try again installing Adobe Application Manager.

If there is a process named 'AAM Update Notifier' or 'AAM Registration Notifier' is running. Kill this prcoess and then try again installing Adobe Application Manager.

If issue still persist, do add a snippet of log  (PDApp.log) as mentioned in my prepious post.

billgarv2007, were you able to resolve this issue?

If not, please confirm if you have tried closing the background processes mentioned by Anil above.

Those processes were not running on my machine.  I restarted my computer (had already tried this) and was able to get it to install, however after downloading apps they would not install.

I'm having the same problem. I checked for the two processes mentioned by Anil_Berry, but neither was running. If it helps, I've pasted the end of my PDApp.log file below.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Did you try restarting the computer, and then installing the software?

This may help to ensure that no conflicting processes are running in the background.

On My Mac I had the same issue.

It was due to a shortcut of an old version of Adode Application manager in my Utilities folder.

As soon as I deleted and restarted it worked!

I upgraded from OSX 10.6.8 to 10.7.4 and have no more problems. I suspect it was corrupted files associated with a former version of app manager.

Masnish, that did not work. I was advised to use Chrome and still didn't work. I was also advised to download the trial and input my info. Even that installer fails to initialize.

    All...

As soon as you get the error do the following:

    01. Look at the PDApp.log file in your ~/Library/Logs/ directory. The "~" mark is a Unix alias for "my home directory." For me, the path translates literally to /Users/harperjm/Library/Logs.

    02. At the bottom of the file, you will see an error. It may look like:

Sat Oct 27 02:54:47 2012        [FATAL] Setup - Drive is Case sensitive. Cannot Install.

It looks like Adobe requires a case insensitive drive to install its app to... This is no easy thing because the only way to get your main drive to be case insensitive is to reformat it. You might find a utility out there that will do it for you but I find it safer to just blast the OS and start over with a more DOS-like file system.

    03. Boot to a USB or external disk with Mountain Lion on it.

    04. Format your disk to use Mac OS Extended Journaled (do not pick the case sensitive one)

    05. Reinstall the OS

    06. Reinstall the adobe installer and all of your apps.

    07. Make a "restore" image of your OS and apps with the OSX Disk Utility so you don't have to spend hours re-downloading apps .

In my case I couldn't find any of these programs running.

I was able to fix it and get it to install on my Mac by doing this.

    - Go to Disk Utility and repairing the permissions on my system drive

    - reboot and hold down the shift key to reboot in "safe mode"

    - run the Adobe Application Manager again and install the software

    - reboot and then get back to work.

    I hope this helps.

    cheers

Try downloading this patch. Install it and then try opening the Manager again. It worked for me...
