I keep coming across issues with the Overlay Creation options. A lot of times, I'm able to create the overlay, but the options do not work for me.
Example:
I've placed a small video (mp4, 480x270 px) into my document. With the video selected, I try to click on "Tap to View Controller", but it doesn't work. I see it put a checkmark briefly, but then it goes back to unchecked. None of these options are grayed out.
This has happened with slideshows also. "Swipe to Change Image" isn't grayed out, and when I try to click it, it shows the checkmark briefly, but then goes back to being unchecked.
I'm forced to find finished overlays and then repurpose them into new ones because of this. I have no idea why it does this.
Any help would be appreciated.
@Tim – ahA!! Do you say, after undocking the Overlay Creator panel, you could delete all previous options for the given overlay you made? For all possible overlays? I have to test this. It bugs me, that for some types of overlays ("Hyperlink" and "Slideshow" I could not go back to a default state, so I had to recreate the object from scratch.
Background:
In the moment you define an overlay, the properties are "injected" into the selected object with something that one could describe as "label" information. Not with the script label feature in the UI, but comparable with the ExtendScript method insertLabel("keystring","valuestring").
Thiese strings stay attached to the object until you define other properties or delete them alltogether.
Sometimes it's impossible to delete thiese properties in the UI ("Hyperlink" overlay with buttons or "Slideshow" with MSOs). The option for that is greyed-out in the Overlay Creator panel. Now I have to test, if this option is available, if I choose to undock the Overlay Creator panel.
Result: Just tested with a button and the "Hyperlink" overlay and a "Slideshow" with an MSO.
The option for deleting all properties is still grayed out, even if I undock the panel.

No
just for me all of the options become un greyed, but like you said with buttons and hyperlinks, you can't remove the interactivity - you can just remove the function - which is pretty much the same thing except it still shows the bounding box that symbolises it is doing something
frustrating i know !
I'm really not sure why those options are still greyed out tho! very strange indeed!
Sorry I can't be any more help!
