We recently purchased an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. When we install Acrobat X Pro, Acrobat gets installed,but the Acrobat Toolbar doesn't get installed IE9. During the installation process, we get an error 1406. We've read numerous forum posts and tried those solutions and none have worked. I've also spent at least 5 hours with Adobe support trying to resolve this, and still no answer. We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Reader and Acrobat, we've tried permissions changes, and we've tried modifying the registry. None of the solutions work.
I agree this is a problem.
I might guess you are using a 64-bit system and have the 64-bit version of IE installed (if there is one). In that case, be sure you update AA X to get the 64-bit compatibility. You did not indicate the version of AA X you are using, the OS, or the 64 vs 32 bit type, so I am just guessing.
