Such a useful shortcut but it seems very sporadic in the way that it works since the update to CS6. Sometimes it hides the app and sometimes it just does nothing. Used to work fine.
First can you help us in diagnosing the problem by providing the following:
Your OS (please provide the version # also)
Your computer set up (Desktop/Laptop, wireless keyboard/wireless mouse, etc.)
An example of the steps it takes to reproduce this issue
And since this issue is intermittent, please let us know of any differences you encounter in regard to Dreamweaver when CMD + H does work.
I can confirm. It's losing focus at times. Unless you are actively in a document DW is losing focus. Filing as a bug and I suggest you do the same:
OS X 10.7.4 on an iMac 27" with a wireless keyboard and mouse
Open file in DW, close file, hit Command-H
Expected DW to hide, but instead nothing happens.
Issue is consistent: Command-H seems to always work in every other instance.
OS X 10.7.4
Desktop iMac 27" i5 running USB keyboard (UK Eng with Num) and Bluetooth Apple mouse
I can confirm that it is only after closing a document that Command H does not work. It does work when I have a document open.
Sort-of related issue: I feel DW CS5 already hides too much, so I would never be tempted to use Command-H. For me, DW's windows completely disappear when I switch focus to the Finder or another app. This makes documenting procedures (or bugs) in DW particularly hard. The only work-around I've found so far is to use a timed screen Grab. The only way to see DW windows and write about them, say, in TextEdit. It is also inconsistent with the behavior of most Mac apps in general.
I've been unsuccessful finding any clues about how to disable this behavior, so --clutching at straws-- I'm hoping that people who actually seek it might know more.
Hmmm, if DW includes a "Hide Dreamweaver" command, is it kind of weird that this function occurs automatically as well, without (so far as I've found) any user option to disable it?
OK, you folks are talking about CS6. Maybe DW has changed significantly in this area. But maybe not.
OS X (10.6.8)
iMac 27", wireless keyboard/trackpad
When a document is open, the application will hide when using the keyboard shortcut Command+H.
When no document is open, the application will not hide when using the keyboard shortcut Command+H.
It's true - you can Hide Dreamweaver with a document open, cannot hide it without a doc open.
But there are some other ghosts in the machine.... one time, couldn't hide it when I had a document open AND I had View Design on Left.
Also, it seems that if you hide it with a document open, then open it (clicking on the app icon in the finder Dock), then try to hide it again, you can't. Sometimes. Not always.
Kinda feels like there are a few bugs in there... Hope the devs are reading these boards.
