I took a trip yesterday and wanted to tag my images with gps data. I used my Samsung Galaxy 8.9 tablet's camera to record gps info by taking a shot at each location. The gps data is in the jpegs. I copied the images into my folder containing the images from my camera. I can use Photo GPS Extractor to view the image's location on Google Maps. The image location is also indicated on Google maps when viewing on the tablet. But, when I synchronise the folder to add the images to the Lightroom Library, the gps info is no longer available. The gps info is not available to ANY program after synchronising the folder in Lightroom. It seems as if Lightroom is removing that info from the metadata.
I have Googled the problem for the past day and can not find any information. If anyone can provide info, a solution, or point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated.
Windows 7 64bit, Lightroom 4.1
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77200990/20120616_101151.jpg is one of the images that has not been synchronised to my lightroom. So, it still contains the gps info. Once I put it into the folder and tell LR4.1 to synch, the gps info is removed.
Hi Dorin,
I have just gotten the problem solved with the help of a chat session with Adobe Technical Service. After about 4 hours of chats spread over two days, the solution was to delete Lightrooms preferences folder and restart Lightroom. I do not know why this worked, but it solved the problem when nothing else worked. Thanks for your assistance.
And to answer your question, the only software I used in between Lightroom and the copy was a software to verify that the gps info was indeed in the metadata. Lightroom was removing the gps info from the metadata upon either import or upon synchronization of the folder.
But, thanks for your assistance.
