Where have you read that, Flavio? It's not in 4.1.

Anyway, I've written some instructions on going from Aperture to Lightroom here.

Perhaps you are referring to the File > Import from Application option?

That forum post was created before the 4.1 update was released. I don't have Aperature to test, but I know that File > Import from Application is now working and it asks which application to want to import from. Have you tried it?

My problem is: what kind of file do I have to create in Aperture, that LR recognize the file as a aperture cataloge.

Follow my instructions above. That "new function of LR 4 is to import libraries from Aperture" does not work.

Brett,

I can't see how this would work. It says "Choose the catalog's export folder." That doesn't make any sense. What next?

Do you tell Aperture to export all its masters? You cannot choose the Aperture application (which wouldn't make sense anyway), and you can't choose Aperture's library (which WOULD make sense). So what are you supposed to do? Note the "More info" button in the dialog is useless... it takes you to www.adobe.com.

If this works, it should be documented so people can figure out how to use it. If you don't have Aperture to test with, it's a bit bold to assert that it works ;-)

It does not work. It is that simple. Well it isn't, but it may as well be so.

Adobe need to redirect that page to a KB article.

CatOne, my "bold" assertion that "it works" was just that if you go to File > Import from Application you don't get an error, so it's not broken. I wasn't trying to imply that it works with Aperture, which is why I was asking that you try it.

John, you are very right that More Info button should lead to a specific KB article. I'll work with the team to make this happen.
