Exported Video has "Mono" track (left channel only)

Hi there,

I am using Premiere Elements 10 and have a project consisting mainly of one large video file including a stereo audio track. When sharing the project (tried as DVD and webDVD) the right channel is empty. The export audio settings are configured for Stereo where appropriate.

Oddly enough, the clip configured to loop as the DVD menu background is Stereo...

Can someone please point me at what is wrong?

Thanks in advance!

R

How do you know the right channel is empty? Can you see it on a waveform of the video?

If not, try playing the DVD on another device, such as your computer, and see if it makes a difference. It could be an issue with the playback of a home-burned DVD on your DVD player.

I agree with Steve, and would troubleshoot things in this order:

    1. Look at the Audio Track in PrE, and expand it vertically, to clearly see the Waveform Display. Is that showing a stereo Audio Stream?
    2. Open up the Exported/Shared file in an audio-editor, such as the great, free Audacity. Do you see a stereo Audio Stream there?
    3. If you can hear stereo in the Menu Audio, on your home theater system, this might be unnecessary, but I would check all cables/connections in the system, just to be sure.

As the Master Audio Track is stereo/2-channel, loosing one channel is very odd.

    Good luck,

Yes, that will do it. You have a stereo/2-channel output Audio Stream, but one channel is 100% attenuated, so no signal.

Let us know if that fixes things.

    Good luck,

Strange - my audio mixer was also 100% to the left, even though I would swear that I'd never touched og even seen it before.

Anyway, even though I now put it to the centre, I still have the sound coming only from the left channel in the exported video. Replaying it within PrE works fine with 2-channel sound.
