Trapped PDF's

Jun 18, 2012 7:59 AM

Were a multi licensed Acrobat user and I'm triing to come up with a solution for trapped PDF's. Iv'e been working on trapping PDF's out of Indesign which works OK if the file isnt to big. If the file has to much information, Acrobat rips the file to about 90% and then stops responding. If it's a easier file it traps it beautifully. I'm hoping somebody has some idea on how to get around this. A different rip, program, something. Were not going to plate with it. We have a customer that wants trapped PDF's and were trying to accomidate him.

Thanks

Jeff

My guess that no reply means that most of us have no clue what a trapped PDF is. Sorry.

Seen this behavior mentioned often enough in the ID forum, and you would get a better reply there; but, to my memory, no good solution is available.

    Hi,

we deliver PDFs as print files and expect the printer to have software that does the trapping (Pitstop for example). If I undersatnd what you mean by trapping, and the file you want to trap is not too complicated, you could try opeing the PDF in Illustrator and set the trapping there, then re-saving as a PDF. Not the most elegant of solutions I admit, but it's all I can think of.
