Managing .dwg scale for laser cutting

Jun 20, 2012 6:58 PM

I need to save from Illustrator in .dwg format, for laser cutting.  However the scale shown in Illustrator is not the same scale in the .dwg when they look at it at the laser cutting firm.  How can I control this?

btw when I export in .dwg format the setting for scale is set at 1 centimeter = 1 unit.  I don't know what they mean by unit however.

I believ you will do better setting upop as the default setting .0353 cm equals 1 unit

    like such

If that does not work also send them the file as an .eps that usually works.

As Wade said, convert the stuff on the old 1/2.54 formula. AI thinks in points and inches, CAD programs in metric units.
