Adobe taken over

My desk top has been taken over by adobe - when I was downloading some stuff via chrome.

 

All the installed programs - excel, word, chrome etc - now have adobe icons on the desktop (with correct names underneath) but won't open as adobe is not the right program.

 

What's happened?
