Content generation error. Failed to open the InDesign file.

Hey all -

 

In importing an article to a folio, I just received this error:

 

"Content generation error.

Failed to open the InDesign file. Please confirm the file can be opened in InDesign."

 

The file is open right now in InDesign. I can close it and reopen it with no errors.

I've tried resaving the article to a new file. No help.

I tried creating a new folio and importing the article there. No help.

All links are good. It's a simple file with images, a scrolling pane, and some buttons that link to other articles.

 

Anyone else run into this problem? Any solutions?

    OK, found a workaround:

     

    With the problem file open in ID, click the "Add" button at the bottom of the Folio builder panel. Enter the article name in the subsequent popup, then click OK.

     

    The article loaded into the folio as expected.

     

    Whew.

    Im getting this error also....?

     

    Want to avoid inporting each artical on at a time. Need to import multiple articals at once.

    Dang server was conected....Anyone know whay I have to disconect from server to use folio builder?

    That would allow you to create a local folio but wouldn't explain the content generation error.

     

    What version of InDesign? What version the tools? If you're trying to create a folio, which folder are you browsing to?

    Using CS6, tool pack v2, Browsing to folio folder on desktop...as pictured...but figured out when Im connected to the inhouse server....builder errors. Disconect and its all good...Just wondering why that is?

    Do you have alternate layouts in those articles? Were those articles saved as CS6 files or CS5.5/5?

    Saved as CS6, No Alt. layout. Tool Pack v21. Again....disconnecting form the inhouse server seems to be the issue. Was the same issue in CS5. However each day when I login to my CPU im automatically logged in to our work server....If I don't disconnect before using the folio builder it errors out. The verbiage in the Error seems to be irrelevant.

     

    Pehaps it is a bug? or the server dosent like CPU to connect to the cloud while connected to the server for security?

    I had the exact same problem, you disconnect from the server and all good..

    like Amy suggested above, if you are uploading articles from a network drive, move your files over to local machine HD and upload from there. data upload from a network drive is known to cause unpredictable errors
