Chris, if you've "seen this caused by corrupt fonts, and corrupt font caches in the OS" are you fixing the bug so that corrupt fonts and cache's don't cause this problem?
I'm getting frustrated with Adobe blaming the OS/other apps/fonts/the weather for serious failings in their software. With the duplicate fonts issue and the tool select hanging bug it seems like the problems are everyone but Adobe's fault.
We're working on it - but it's not easy to reproduce, even with known corrupt fonts. But we're constantly trying to bulletproof against bad fonts (but font makers are constantly finding new ways to make bad fonts).
We only blame other things when we've seen those other things cause the problem.
Chris, the problem occurs with a fresh install of the OS (10.6.8) with just the base system fonts activated and only Photoshop CS6 and the Finder running. Vanilla system, new user, MacPro4, Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16 GB Ram.
So, no fonts from those pesky "font makers who are constantly finding new ways to make bad fonts" - these are the base system fonts on a clean install of the OS.

To fall back on the car-analogy: No matter how well made a car is its performance still depends in parts on the state of the streets (or other surface being drivven on).
One reason I tend to consider Mr.Cox’ statements as plausible is that so far I have read no statements by officials for Macintosh (for example) contradicting his statements.
Naurally they are not obliged to follow these Fora but if they felt falsehoods were being spread here I suppose they might well be tempted to react.
Just seen a post on another forum saying the issue is fixed with 13.0.1 patcher
