Hey guys, I'm getting a new system setup with 32G ram and the new AMD 8 core (the price is good, that's why I got it and of couse since its CS5.5; Windows 7.
I would like to get some opinions on recording, can i just use my Sony camera, record in 1080P HD and use that file in PreProCS5.5 to edit ? I just want to make sure there is converting issues.
The Codec on the Camera?
All i want to do is shoot video and edit, that's it. I see people all around doing that with laptops and definitely not equipment with 32G of RAM or 8 core processing with a video card to back it up. Not trying to do Pixar animation here
Notice that AVCHD is a difficult codec, in contrast to DV, HDV and P2. That means requirements for a fast computer go up.
An i5-2500K is in the budget category and is about minimum for AVCHD. However, you chose the FX-8150 and that CPU is around two times slower as I said in post #1 for the same price. That slowness will cause lagginess and choppy behaviour.
Here is the Camera
You should have no issues using the media from that camera on that system. Harm's posts are almost always from the viewpoint of someone working at Lucasfilm, so you have to take them with a grain of salt.
