As a follow on from my previous question "What determines the loading order or Multiple Articles" http://forums.adobe.com/thread/866779?tstart=0 I thought I'd try importing using sidecar.xml as per this help article http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f6014 465f4712f61e55c01-7fff.html#WS9293e1fb3b977c5c-3a30084513028f6630b-800 0
The folder - file structure is the same with the inclusion of the sidecar.xml in the root.

Page7 - page7_v.indd
sidecar.xml
Without changing the name of any of the folders or files within them I created an .xml file based on this help article http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f6060 6c7754128c7a9c00e-7fff.html#WS67cb9e293e2f1f60-60a064012f65fafa88-8000
When I follow the instructions and use the import multiple articles and point to the root it load the files in the right order until it gets to the last article in the sidecar.xml and then it loads them all again but in the jumbled order from my "Multiple Articles" post. So I end up with 14 articles the first 7 in the right order the last screwed up.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Here's part of the xml file, the entry info for page1 is just replicated and the names changed.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<sidecar>

Hi Johannes,
Thanks for that, I put the sidecar.xml into a separate directory went to the Folio where the Articles are ordered;
TechZone
sidecar - sidecar.xml
TechzoneFolio
Cover - cover_v.indd
Page1 - page1_v.indd
Page2 - page2_v.indd
Page3 - page3_v.indd
Page4 - page4_v.indd
Page5 - page5_v.indd
Page6 - page6_v.indd
Page7 - page7_v.indd
Went to the Folio where the pages have been loaded incorrectly and imported the sidecar.xml but nothing happened. However if I build a Folio and each Article is in the right order then when I import the sidecar.xml it will update the files by changing titles etc.
If I want to change the Folio where the pages have been incorrectly loaded do I need to put a path into the sidecar.xml ie <folderName>../TechzoneFolio/Page7</folderName>
Also not sure how to set it up so that I can import all of the Articles using the sidecar.xml?
Tony
Hi Bob,
I just tried it again.
1. Created a new folder
2. Set up the files;
TestLoad
Cover - cover_v.indd
Page1 - page1_v.indd
Page2 - page2_v.indd
Page3 - page3_v.indd
Page4 - page4_v.indd
Page5 - page5_v.indd
Page6 - page6_v.indd
Page7 - page7_v.indd
sidecar.xml
It loaded them in the correct order but this time when it got to Article Page7 it started all over again.
Hi Bob,
Okay I created a folder as below;
Cover - cover_v.indd
Page1 - page1_v.indd
Page2 - page2_v.indd
Page3 - page3_v.indd
Page4 - page4_v.indd
Page5 - page5_v.indd
Page6 - page6_v.indd
Page7 - page7_v.indd
Sidecar - sidecar.xml
Opened the Folio with the misordered Articles but got this error;
Tony
Bob,
That's what I did.
1. I created a Folio called TestLoad 2
2. I have a directory with the contents;
Cover - cover_v.indd
Page1 - page1_v.indd
Page2 - page2_v.indd
Page3 - page3_v.indd
Page4 - page4_v.indd
Page5 - page5_v.indd
Page6 - page6_v.indd
Page7 - page7_v.indd
3. In TestLoad 2 folio I selected "Import Multiple Articles"
4. They loaded in this order;
Page2
Page3
Page4
Page5
Page6
Page7
Cover
Page1
5. I moved the folder containing the sidecar.xml into the folio folder
6. In TestLoad 2 folio I selected "import a Single Article" and got the error shown above.
Is there another way to import the folder with the sidecar? If I do import multiple it loads all of them twice again.
Tony
When you're first importing a set of articles in a folio, the sidecar.XML file goes on the same level as the article folders in the folio folder. But when you're using the sidecar.xml file to update properties, the sidecar.xml file needs to be in its own folder, and you need to import it using the Multiple option, not the Single option. Point to the folder containing the sidecar file.
Bob,
I have no idea how to get this to work and I've spent hours trying various combinations. The only thing I can get from the sidecar.xml file is the ability to update titles on a Folio where the order and name of Articles matches those in the XML file.
At least I can get it to load the Articles in the correct order, all I have to do then is delete the duplicate Articles. Once I've done that updating the sidecar.xml file changes elements of the existing Articles.
Any clue on the other post re the order in which they are loaded?
thanks for your help,
Tony
Here's the sidecar:

When you updated the article metadata, did you target the folio folder with the article subfolders, or did you target a folder that has only the sidecar.xml file?
>>>>
If you want to use the sidecar.xml file to update your article metadata or change the order of articles, you can use the Folio Builder panel to import the sidecar.xml file.
Copy or move the sidecar.xml file to its own folder.
In the Folio Builder panel, open the folio you want to edit, and choose Import from the panel menu.
Select Import Multiple Articles, specify the folder in which the sidecar.xml file is located, and click OK.
