FireFox 13.01 won't install Flash Player Plugin

At some point in the not too distant past my Flash player stopped working in FireFox so I'm trying to remedy that. I see all the hooplah going on about incompatibility but I can't get to that point because the plug-in won't install in FireFox. I've tried everything I can and I'm assuming that it is supposed to show-up in the "plug-ins" list but it does not. Web pages tell me that I'm missing the plug-in even though all indicators are that it installed correctly (FlashPlayer reflects accurately in my control player). I've tried safe mode but no joy there either.

As far as RealPlayer is concerned I severed ANY and ALL relationship with that "%^&$#@" over a decade ago. It is not on my system.

I'm about ready to toss FireFox out the window and go back to IE (where I am not having this problem). This is not how auto-updating is supposed to work and I could care less about assigning blame.

Please do not suggest to me that I wipe everything FireFox related and start over. That is unacceptable. What am I missing or failing to do?  I woud prefer to not rollback to version 10 if possible.

Win7/64/Administrator

FireFox 13.01

Flash Player Plugin version 11.3.300.262

Thanks

Paul

    Hi Paul,

Could you verify that Flash Player is listed in your plugins panel and enable it if it is currently disabled?

    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-f ix-problems#w_determining-if-a-plugin-is-the-problem

Let me know if it's not on the list and we'll go from there.

    Thanks,

    Chris

What files do you have in C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash ?

Can you also list the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in that folder?
