I have a RoboHelp 9 project that I created by linking my FrameMaker 10 book.
I used a previously created .isf to break each of the chapters down by H1, H2 so there would be a separate page for each of those heading types, so my Project Manager Pod looks like this:
Now when I look at the HTML of each of these pages, my index markers (and all other markers other than XREFs) that I made in FM are not displaying:
However, when I import the files instead of linking, the markers display as they should. Below is the same topic as above (which was imported, not linked), but it has the two index markers and a Filename marker in addition to the XREF marker (as it does in the FM file):
I looked though the forum, but was unable to find an explanation as to why linking wouldn't bring over my markers and importing would.
Why would linking not bring over my markers, but importing does?
Is there anyway to fix this that I'm missing or do I simply have to continue with my project having my FM book imported instead of linked?
You probably should have posted this one in the FM Integration forum, but anyway - what are your Conversion Settings looking like? Also, how long are your FM source files (total path length)? I've noticed that longer paths sometimes cause RH to lose track of things - in my case it was XREFs that worked fine in FM and fell apart into just plain text in RH when imported.
Thank you. I actually meant to post to the Frame Integration forum, but had multiple windows open looking for a solution and I think I posted to the wrong window. I can repost this there.
I adjusted the folder structure to be like '"C:/project/frame files," but that didn't seem to work either.
The only real modification to the default conversion settings was to paginate H1 and H2. I also tried to link using the default conversion settings with the same results.
All my cross references are present and work properly for both the linked and imported files. It's all of the other markers that are being ignored in the linked file.
I do have an index in FM, but I don't think RH brought it over(?). I'm not sure, I don't see a reference to it anywhere in the Project Manager pod.
Here's how I set up the RH project:
1. New > Project
2. From the Project Files folder, Right-click > Link > FrameMaker Document
3. Select the book and click OK. RH loads my book and subsequent chapters.
4. Open File > Project Settings
5. Browse for .isf file for my Settings, select it, click Apply and OK.
6. Go back to the Project Manager and right click the book level file, Update > Generate. This breaks each of the chapters in my book down so the H1s and H2s are individual pages (based on my .isf Settings file).
I also looked for the IX markers prior to applying my .isf and they weren't there. When you link, there isn't any option to "Convert Index" as there is when you import. Could that be where the issue is?
