Shared libraries in HTMLResources

Hi, anyone had any luck linking shared libraries (like jquery etc) to the HTMLResources folder?  It's time for some house keeping and I must have at least 20 copies of the same jQuery script existing in a folio. But I've tried changing the script source in all my HTML files to "../HTMLResources/sharedLibraries/jquery…" but when uploaded the HTML files on page do not run?

    Hi Mr Christian (sorry I keep forgetting your name!)

    I know when I link PDF's in the HTMLResources folder the files need to be zipped, not sure if it;s the same for your jquery files, but just a thought, as you didnt mention it.

    Thanks Alistair, I am using the zipp folder correctly. Found another post stating that this may not work unless the completed articles are all HTML?

    Without seeing your file structure, I'm just taking a stab, is this a web view you are using? how have you structured the html with the jquery?

    Sorry, I'm no expert!

    No not web view that would open up the in app browser. This is HTML overplayed using web content.

     

    Calling several js libraries and a common CSS script in the head.

    Works fine if I include everything in the same folder but as there are over 20 HTML DOCS using the same libraries I thought I could link the scripts directly to the HTMLResources.

    OK. Thats just got too complicated for me. I that the guitar mag your working on? I might buy that to see what sort of stuff your doing, even though I wont understand how you've done it!

    i thought this was actually possible, christian. and I thought it was the

    whole idea behind HTMLresources.zip. I might test myself soon.

    Me too Johannes.

    Could it be that it doesn't test well when you upload it to a local folio and preview on device. It may be that I have the file path incorrect.

     

    Either way the java script isn't getting called when the libraries are separated out.

     

    Let me know if have any luck.

    I could not test yet, but I quote from the help article:

     

    This is the way to refer to anything that's inside the HTMLresources. it looks that if you use web contents, you need to preprend ../../../ before the link.

     

    InDesign source document

     

    In the URL field of either a hyperlink or button, enter the path without http://, navto://, or any other prefix. Example:

    HTMLResources/Cartoons/train1.html

     

    HTML article

     

    From an HTML article, specify the location. Example:

    <a href="../HTMLResources/Cartoons/train1">See Train Cartoon Gallery</a>

     

    Web Content overlay

     

    Web Content overlays are nested two levels deeper than an HTML article. Example:

    <a href="../../../HTMLResources/Cartoons/train1">See Train Cartoon Gallery</a>

    Hey Mr Christian, Sir. I'll second Martin's comment, lot of work in that there mag.

    I think one of the draw backs of the new iPad though, is file size. your last issue, at 685Mb is eye wateringly big.

     

    Just out of curiousity are you using Edge for any of the HTML yet?

    Also been thinking of using proper "sliding" slide shows for a while just not had time to implement them, but I think they look better than a cross fade sometimes.

    Thanks Mobly. We had a lot of video in that issue, maybe too much. We have successfully streamed video but in two minds about that.

     

    No edge in that one, hand code most of the animations, and are working on sticky sliding image galleries as I agree with you they feel more intuitive over cross fades. That said cross fades do have their uses too!

     

    Always trying to optimise the file size, starting with getting my scripts in order! Will try harder to get the next issue smaller!
