I know this is too basic.
I have 1 window open.
The tab shows 3 separate items each of which I can click on and see.
But I don't want to see each window 1 at a time.
I want to see all 3 items at one time.
I know how to tile once I see all 3 windows.
But how do I get to see all 3 at the same time?
Peter thanks but you are ahead of me. The arranging if I understand how it works has only one window to arrange because whichever tab I click opens that window and closes any window that is open. I need to get all three open at the same time—which is what I'm struggling with. Then I can follow your suggestion and arrange them. I did, by the way, manage to fumfer about and get all three open together, but there was not yet a system, just futzing about and somehow it worked. Luck ain't a method.
You lost me. You said you had three windows open if yo have multiple windows open, whether floating or as tabs, you should be able to click that icon in the menu bar, then click one of the tiling patterns (you do need to click twice, though apparently -- click to open the panel and drag down to a selection, as you might do for a menu, does not work here)
Larry read and follow the directions in post #2, which will give you all the options for "viewing several files at the same time". These are the files that you currently have in tabs. I just tried this and as far as I can see Peter has it nailed in post #2, but you then have even managed to get him confused as he indicates in post #6. Good luck!
Peter
I have three tabs.
Any single tab opens a single page. One, only one.
I click a second tab, which opens its page, and simultaneously closes the first page.
You have earlier answered how I can see several pages at one time, as long as several pages are open at the same time. But I am stuck in the digital stone age on this one: I can't open more than one page at a time using the tabs.
Tabs display one doc at a time. Any viewing method the shows multiple docs uses un-tabbed windows. That button I showed you above is one easy way to change from the tabs to a convenient arrangement of windows.
So if you have multiple tabs, you can use the views button to arrange them so they are all visible at the same time.

The Arrange Windows widget in the tool bar is sometimes confusing.
Selecting any open window makes that the topmost active window; if it's near maximum size, you can't see the others, so this is also confusing.
How about Window > Arrange > Float All in Windows to separate multiple tabbed open files, followed by Window > Arrange > Tile (or Cascade)?
HTH

Peter
