Missing or Off Line photos - user problem

Jun 23, 2012 2:49 PM

Help!!  I'm fairly new with lightroom 3 maybe had it for a year and just up graded to lightroom  4 because I got a new camera and I continue having some of my photos missing or offline. I did call the support line with abobe and they did find most of them. Some how I had move them without realizing

what I did. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong when downloading my pictures from my camera card to lightroom?  Any websites that I can go to for help on this and for help locating them on my computer?  Thanks

The reason photos show up as missing in LR is that you move or rename or delete photos (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom. Another reason that photos can become missing (in Windows) is that the letter of the external drive changes, something Windows will do sometimes.

One thought about finding these photos is to look up the name of the photo in LR (for example, DSC_0783.nef), then have your operating system search all hard drives for this photo.
