Saving PDF as word document (.doc or .docx) with japanese character set does not work, it fills the word document with unreadable characters. I have all the appropriate character sets and for example abbyy finereader can save a word document with japanese characters fine, can someone please help me?
For example if I try it my word document looks like this:
• :r..T Y 7 • i%!P*t!l:"l[j[ IJ
• :r.. T 1 / v 'J e ;{1 7' [RB25DET)
• 1 /'T-7'.::.*-;" V:1 v7 7- (
Acrobat doesn't export fonts, it relies on what you have installed - so there are two possible issues: you may not have a font installed with the same Unicode definitions as was used to create the PDF file, or the mapping within the PDF file itself is not defined properly. Can you perform text searches of the PDF file in Japanese? If so, the mapping is OK. Do the fonts listed on the PDF's properties dialog match those installed on your computer?
I can indeed search for say 取り and it finds it within the document, I used abbyy finereader to create the PDF, ultimately I want to just get it in word format so I can translate the text, the issue is abby finereader stuffs up the formatting, so if I export it to PDF then to word the formatting is correct, however acrobat seems to not like the font that is being used.
How can I confirm or fix this possible font issue? The fact I can copy paste the symbols in the document and display them in this post and also search for them within the document suggests I do have all the fonts installed. Is there something else I may be doing wrong?
Thanks for your help.
