It would help if the screen grab was large enough to actually see what is happening...

If you just want a path and no fill (shape layer) choose the Paths icon and also you probably want the Add to Path Area option.

I agree your screen grab is much too small.

Just a thought, but are you using the grid or guides to help draw the L shape?

BTW  Where are you?  I am in Marlborough, Rapaura in the middle of wine country.

    Trevor,

Ever come across anybody named "Badland" where you are? I met some relatives there (about two decades ago) in Picton, Christchurch and Lower Hut. Beautiful country.

    R_Kelly,

I think that the OP has Shapes, and when they select the Paths icon, things will work, just as you describe and as I think they want.

PS - Happens to me quite often. I do my Path, and boom - it gets Filled. "What just happened?" "Oh, I see. Left it on Shape... DUH!"

Picton is a 25 minute drive from where I live.  Badland is a great name, and you might find it was one of the old whaling families.  They lived out in the Sounds.

This gentleman died age 83, but there is no date, which can mean it is an old record.

Only two Badlands in the South Island White Pages

Have fun, and sorry to the forum for highjacking the thread.

    Trevor,

Thanks for the info. And, I too apologize for the tangent.

We did meet Pearl and Jim Badland in Picton (the obit you list).

The surname name, from my understanding, is from England... migrating to Wellington in the late 1800's.

Beautiful geography there in NZ. Especially the south island where you are. The extremes (both in landscape and people) remind me, in ways, of my home state of California.

    CB

(btw, only my immedaite family has this surname in the States... so I'm always curious about hearing from people in NZ.)
