Got an error when applying oil paint filter

I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Macbook. When I tried to apply the oil pain filter, I got an error message saying "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software." Could you let me know on how to fix this? Or how to skip this mission, and move onto the next one? Thank you!

    This isn't a problem with LevelUp for Photoshop, but with your computer's hardware.

     

    Please post your system info listed in Photoshop's Help > System Info dialog box. Click Copy, then paste it in a response here. That will help us determine what's going on.

    I get the same issue, and I JUST bought this new Samsung laptop 3 months ago.  If it's not capable of handling CS6 then what the hell??

    I have a similar problem. In fact problem is when using BOTH the Oil Paint as well as the Liquify filters.

    The Photoshop team recommends that you ask Samsung whether a more recent driver is available: http://www.samsung.com/us/support. While your laptop is new, that doesn't guarantee that the drivers are up to the minute.

    Use one of your own images for this mission, and make sure that its file dimensions are smaller than 500 pixels by 500 pixels and 72 pixels per inch.

    OK- my cs6 crashes even when I used other filters such as wide angleetc.

     

    After some online research, I discovered that such crashes is common if one has more than 4 scratch disks in their preference setting- I have 5. On reducing that down to 4, the problem disappears. Just thought IO share this with everyone.

    Thanks for tracking that down; I was looking for a similar machine here to try and reproduce your crashing. You saved me a lot of time by reporting back. :-)

     

    We have a bug logged for that particular problem with >4 active scratch disks, and were investigating a solution.

    Hi yeakie,

     

    Can you tells a bit more about your machine setup? From the system log, it looks like the video card is having problems (which in turn i sthe reason you can't use the Oil Paint filter). What video card do you have, is this a desktop or laptop machine, and can you find the driver version that is currently installed?

     

    I know on Win XP, some GPU features are disabled and need to check if that is the case for Oil Paint (I don't believ it is but will confirm). I don't know if the LevelUp game has a workaround for missions that are dependent on a functioning GPU, but I've sent off email asking for guidance.

    Hi All,

     

    I don't have much new to report. There's no bypass mechanism for a mission. I think they are looking at either removing missions or putting in ways to check for GPU support before starting a mission that requires it.

     

    Sorry I don't have better news to offer.

    The issues isn't actually that common -- the vast majority are able to play through the oil paint mission. However, we are working on a replacement mission right now, even though Adobe U.S. is shut down this week. That's how much we love you!

    I have the same problem with my computer. The oilpaint filter worked a few times, but now I have the same problem although everything is updated.

     

    I also get the following error message when opening PS CS6:

    Oh, I see what you mean. Most likely, your hardware needs upgrading before thwe oil paint filter can work. That's a discussion for the Photoshop forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/general

    Everything is updated. But the funny thing is that the oil paint filter did work for a while.

    I'm beginning to think that I should roll back to an older version of my drivers.

    I recently updated the graphics driver to be able to check the "use graphics proccessor" but now a new error appears telling me to check the manufacturer's website .....
