I imported quick time movies from Final Cut into encore and then burnt a blu-ray. Although the original movies were fine the resulting blu ray produced jitter and judder whenever the camera pans.
Is there an easy solution (I'm not very technical!)
David
Thanks for your reply John. The movies imported into Encore were Quicktime MPEG-2 files 1920x1080. I used the default transcoding settings which were:
Blu-ray transcding: H.264
Dimensions: 1440 x 1080 (is that the problem?)
Frame rate: 25
Quality preset: Automatic using project Settings
Use Maximum Render Quality: unchecked
Use Frame Blending: Unchecked
Is that the information you needed? As I explained I'm not very technical but I am eager to learn.
David
Hi David,
It's my understanding that the H.264 codec for blu-ray is only capable of producing 1080i vertical resolution (i=interlaced) at 25fps- which would explain your jittering (interlaced isn't true 1080 resolution, rather a trick of the eye to replicate 1080 resolution). To produce 1080p (p=progressive which is true 1080 vertical resolution) with the H.264 codec for blu-ray you need to have your source video encoded at 24fps as i understand it... then make sure you select a 1080p (not 1080i) resolution when you transcode it into blu-ray.
Hope that's helpful.
Cheers,
