Please could you tell me how to use camera raw in Elements 8?
Please if you are so nice explain how the Camera Raw editor sliders work. If it is not too much trouble? Thanks!
Dear dj_paige,
Thank you so much for your reply. I am afraid that I have never used this
sort of approach for advice before, so please excuse me if I use the wrong
protocol.
Although I have been using Elements for a number of years and have several
thousand photographs catalogued in Organiser, I have never used Camera Raw.
I have recently got a Canon 5D (Mk2) and a friend has told me about RAW, but
I don't seem to be able to find it in Elements 8. So, please treat me as an
idiot novice and, if you have the time, tell me how to find the RAW software
and how to open RAW files.
Regards,

To answer your question, there's no need to "find the RAW software" because it's part of PSE. When you use File...Open and open your RAW file, it will automatically open in the Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) editor.
You can use the sliders at the right of the ACR window to see what effect they have on your image. When you're happy, use the "Open Image" button to save your changes and open the image in the main PSE editor.
The important thing to remember is to use the box at the center bottom of the ACR window to change your image's colour depth to "8 bits/channel" so you can then have all the PSE editing features available.

Except I think you left out a key point in your answer
When you're happy, use the "Open Image" button to save your changes and open the image in the main PSE editor.
Or you can click on "Done" if you think your image is properly edited and no further edits are needed.
Thanks! To all of you.
