AxAcro PDF cannot handle security

Jun 21, 2012 12:03 AM

Hi,

I am using AxAcroPDF component to load and display PDF file. Now the issue is, the pdf file the security features have been controlled like user cannot save the file and cannot copy the image and content. When I opent the file in adobe reader the "SAVE AS " button is disable correct. But the same file when I open using AxAcroPDF the "SAVE AS" button is enable".

Why AxAcroPDF cannot hanlde this or perhaps, there is a way which I dont know ? Someone kindly help me.

Thanks

Malini

How are you setting security features so that the user "cannot save the file"? Which exact settings are these?

Thank you for your reply. I wonder if you could tell me the exact location of the security options you are selecting which relate to saying that the user "cannot save the file".

Sadly, none of these options relate in any way to saving files. Copying refers to the use of copy/paste and text extraction, NOT to saving the file. So far as I know this is always permitted.

However, the SAVE function (as opposed to SAVE AS), which is only in Acrobat, is always disabled for a newly opened file, until it is changed. Perhaps this is what you are seeing.

In Adobe Reader X where did you see a save as icon?

The save button is disabled. This is correct for a unchanged PDF file.

You can use File > Save As > PDF.

I know nothing about your vb.net application.
