    Hello gail.lynch,

In respond to your question i would like to inform you that Captivate 5 saves file in " cptx" format whereas Captivate 4 in " cpt".

So it is not possible to open Captivate 5 file in Captivate 4.

However, you can open Captivate 4 file in Captivate 5.

    Hello,

I'm sorry, but Captivate has never been backwards compatible. It is not possible to open a project of a later version in a previous version, not even to save a project to the format of a previous version. Captivate 5 has been built up from scratch and is really rather different, moreover it supports only Actionscript3.

This is nothing new: you couldn't open a CP4 project in CP3 neither.

    Hi there:

How could I save a project in cpt format (from Captivate 5.5) ?

I'm trying to find something similar in the forums with no success.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your answer.

It's quite incredible!, they don't suport their owns formats...

That is your point of view, of course and understand the frustration but there must be a reason. Microsoft doesn't allow to have different versions on the same system, that is also quite a problem. Whereas I have for the moment on my laptop Captivate 4, 5, 5.5 and 6.0 installed and they work happily together. The difference between version 4 and 5 is pretty great, 5 was rewritten from scratch, only supports AS3 (CP4 supports both AS2 and AS3) , has a totally different Text engine etc...

Captivate 5 is useless for our needs now since it's not supporting AS2.  We are unable to import and run in our Articulate Presenter 9 projects.  What a waste, we really liked Captivate 4's ability to do this, and unfortunately our company migrated everone to a Win7 OS and will not allow us to use Captivate 4 ....  Captivate will lose some customers.  I hope they "fix" Captivate 5 and allow AS2 publishing...   sucks.

That is simply never going to happen. Why don't you try asking Articulate to fix their product so that it can publish in AS3?

Already did...no action to date.   I did bring in the Captivate 5 file as a web object, but it just doesn't fit nor look the same.   but you're right it should be in Articulate's court.
