Illustrator CS5 hangs ("not responding") when closed

Hi,

 

When I close Illutrator CS5 the application hangs and the windows "this application is not responding" message appears.  I have now seen this on 3 different PC's (including a Desktop, Laptop and MacMini Server) all running Windows 7 64bit.

    This is expected behaviour for beta software. Any version of Illustrator released in the las decade is a beta.

    It's a long shot but, in the preferences, try unchecking the items below. In some older versions, that could cause Illy to hang on closing.

    Sounds like a permissions problem. The last thing that AI does before quitting is to write the latest version of the Preferences to the User's preferences folder. If it cannot do this it will hang.
