True cost of publication

Jun 25, 2012 7:52 PM

Accorcing to MicroFilmmaker Magazine - http://www.microfilmmaker.com/wordpress/2012/01/dps-review/,  The Single Edition costs $395 but then you have to pay Adobe an additional $9,000 if you have more than 5,000 downloads.  Is this accurate?

Thanks,

Mark

No, that's not accurate. With Single Edition, you pay Adobe $395, create the app, and submit it to Apple. If the Single Edition app is downloaded 17 billion times, you wouldn't pay another dime to Adobe.

Additional download fees apply only to Professional and Enterprise customers for multi-issue apps in which the folios are downloaded from the Adobe Distribution Service.

Additionally, at some point later in the year, Single Edition apps will be included with Creative Cloud. And no, I don't have any idea of when that will happen.
