adobeAIR  installation problem???

Jun 25, 2012 10:00 AM

Im using Windows Vista and im trying to run a program (FA Davis Q&A for the nclex-rn examination); it requires adobe air to run the application.  I double click on the program icon and the license agreement box comes up.  I then click "I Agree" and then nothing happens.  When i repeat said process...still nothing happens. Ive tried uninstalling and then re-installing the program and hasnt repaired the problem. This is not the first time, that i have used this program...it has worked fine in the past.  I dont know what has changed with the program but this has been a struggle for the past three days to correct the problem.  Im just a little computer savvy, but not an expert....i can follow some clear instructions.  Please help!!!!!! If i see that black box one more time....i will pull my hair out!!!!

You can download the AIR runtime from http://get.adobe.com/air/?promoid=BUIGQ

Once the download is complete you can right click the downloaded file and use Run As Administrator link. Once this is done the AIR runtime will install and then you can launch your application. Let me know if this worked.

I suspect you are having a file permission problem.  AIR needs to be able to write to the following file:

    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\eulaAccepted

    Let's try this:

    1. Hit the Windows key + R, then type "%appdata%"
    2. Navigate into the Adobe\AIR\ folder
    3. Right click the eulaAccepted file and select Properties
    4. On the general tab, is Read-only checked?  If so, uncheck it
    5. Click the Security tab
    6. Do you see your user name listed?  If you select it, do you have a checkmark next to Full Control?  If possible, please take a screenshot of this dialog so I can see what's going on here.
    7. Finally, let's try deleting the file and trying again.

If all this fails, I'm also attaching a copy of my eulaAccepted which should also work.
