My Plug-Ins won't load or be verified in the Effect Menu

I've tried numerous times to install many effects in After Effects, but none of them seem to work. I've put the file in the plug-ins sections, but they will never appear in the program. Is there any sort of fix for this?

    And what effects? What version of AE? Sounds like the classic case where you are using 32bit versions in a 64bit AE and naturalyl that's not going to work. Make sure to install the correct versions as per the vendors' instructions...

    I'm running CS5 After Effects, 64bit, and it is any plug ins that don't work.

     

    Every tutorial I've seen or read on how to install plug ins simply says bring the files to the plug ins section, drop them in, and they'll work. None of them mention any 32 bit or 64 bit compatibility issues.

    Yeah, but you still need to take care to use the correct 64bit versions. So again: Make sure you have the right ones.

    The only versions are Mac or PC. And I'm on a PC so I'm using the PC one. Do you have any idea what else it could of been?

    Sorry, but you are missing the point: If your vendor provides versions for PC and Mac, it means he would still provide 32bit versions and 64bit versions for both platforms - 32bit for CS4 and before, 64bit for CS5 and above. Why don't you simply tell us, what plug-ins you are actually referring to?

    I'm currently referring to Optical Flares, and a few of Red Giants Magic Bullet plug ins. But I've tried other types of plug ins in the past and I haven't been able to get them to work at all. How can I tell if my plug in is 32 or 64 bit?

    Where did you get the plugins?  All of Red Giant plugins have installers which require serial numbers.  Optical Flares has an installer AND requires online activation. Without running the installers and following the activation process, the plugins won't work properly. 

     

    If the plugins don't appear in AE at all, as Mylenium says, they are properly not the correct versions for the bersion of AE you have.
