I have an animation I made in edge - which works in Safari, Firefox and Chrome
I have published to a folder named HTMLResources which resides in the stack I'm using it in.
Inside my HTMLResources folder I have
a folder called
and my images folder
So this all works a treat right?
Except when I use the web content overlay - nothing happens!? I link it to the HTML file, and have tried literally every option I can think of, my folio is PDF set at 2048x1536 from a 1024 source doc
I have a poster image, and transparency turned ON; user interaction turned OFF
I have built serveral folios to make sure, rebuilt the animation 3 times, just to make sure - exported countless times, just to make sure... but alas I cannot figure it out
one resolve is, when I made a completely blank page and added the animation, I loaded it up on the ipad and there was the little web loading icon, then it disappeared and nothing happened -
Honestly guys, I'm stumped.
I'm running V20 Tools with v21 builder panel, on V21 Viewer iPad 3 inDesign cs5..
Please help I'm loosing the will!
The HTMLResources file is only for shared assets, not the index.html file. If you're creating an HTML article, put the HTML file in its own folder along with non-shared assets and import the article.
Same issue. Put the index.html file and its assets in its own folder, and create a Web Content overlay that points to the .html file. Don't use the HTMLResources folder for Web Content overlays unless you really need to make calls to share resources.
I have also tried that, everything that edge publishes is in one folder
I have placed this folder (that contains the index.html, the .js my images and the edge_includes folder) in the links folder and used the web content overlay to navigate to the index.html
it just doesn't play?
at this moment I just wanted to post a question for the same problem.
For me it looks that there is a problem when the html5 files are in a folder deep in the folders structure of the hard disk.
If I copy the folder created by Edge (or a folder created with Wallaby) to my desktop and than choose the xxx.html in Web Content panel all works fine in DPS.
Is there a restriction to the characters used in the name of the folders? I am from Germany and we use many characters which are not standard (like ä ü etc.)
I don't actually have the £800 to upgrade my work machine to CS6 - but thanks for that.
I set those, as I was trying every Variant
The HTML is a small 4 second animation that fades to transparency, as the object state, video and image sequence options in the overlay creator panel weren't working as smoothly as I wanted - I have tried and tested many options and decided to give EDGE ago, it works great in a browser, exactly as I wanted it to - but in DPS it doesn't work
so maybe you're right there - the content might be unreadable by DPS which is strange, as I have put much more complex things into a web content overlay
Will try that, thanks for your advice matey!!
@Bob, unfortunately, it's out of my control which way the machines are updated at work - but the cloud system is looking to be a great investment for my personal use - I hear that single edition apps are availabe with that subscription? and edge will come with it too?
I have CS6 on my home machine - I have placed the file and it works fine but I can't get the transparent background I am looking for
I think I've used all the correct settings, do you have to publish with special options?
