Hi folks,
Recently I puchased PS5 and uninstalled the antique CS2 with Acrobat Pro 7, to install the new PS as I was hardly using anything more than PS.
PS5 is working fine but each time I go into the Windows Explorer, Acrobat wants to reinstall and then tells me he cannot find AcroPro.msi - which is quite logical as it has been uninstalled. I have to click it away a few times before I can get into my documents, my pictures or anything else and by now it is driving me creazy!
I already spent a few hours in Windows Explorer and then in the registry, manually looking for all the things left behind there hoping that might help. The good news is that my computer is a lot faster now. The bad news is that Acrobat still comes up with that window wanting to reinstall. Somehow it got stuck to the Windows installer and won't let go...
Can someone please, please advise me how I can get rid of it? And no, I do not want to reinstall it as I just have no use for it...
Thanks in advance and grts

Have you tried the cleaner tool? http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Nothing out of order there. I had a look at the event log as well while I was close to it and this is what it says:
Detection of product '{AC76BA86-1033-0000-7760-000000000002}', feature 'PDFMakerForIE' failed during request for component ''
This coincides with each time I was trying again. Could that set the Installer off?
At the moment there is no Acrobat Reader at all on the PC. My default pdf reader is Foxit (sorry Adobe... :-/) But IE does not seem to recognize that... But anyway, the thing is that I do not use IE ...
Do you know of a way to explain to IE it will have to do with Foxit? Or should stop looking for Acrobat?
I checked the add-ons but nothing there of Acrobat... so I am at the end of my knowledge, I am afraid...
Hi ssnnil,
Try removing Acrobat 7 manually with the steps outlined here: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/manually-remove-acrobat-professional -7.html
It sounds like the uninstall wasn't complete. ![]()

Hi David,
Tried your suggestion though normally all that stuff should have been gone yesterday. Went through those steps in the instructions. In the registry (spent some 4 hours in there yesterday with all possible search terms) I had missed two items. As I have more of Adobe than the obstinate Acrobat (PS, LR, Flash, also with a problem but general in that case), I had hesitated deleting them - all the rest was gone. Same in the Explorer, all gone. And still there is something that kicks Windows Installer into action...
I am freshly out of ideas at the moment. Guess I will have to live with it till some time next month when I'll give my PC a makeover with Windows7... All else is working fine, no strange consequences - just the Windows Installer jumping at me up to 3 times each time I want something from the Windows Explorer... I even looked in the db of the Win Installer and removed 2 Acrobat pieces there... but still no joy...![]()
In any case, thanks to both of you for trying :-)
