Problem with Omnes font?

I am having a problem where one of my colleagues sends a pdf out that is created in MS Word or Publisher and usually includes the font Omnes (our business's font). Some people have no problem with this, and some users open the PDF to find long gradient lines instead of text.

 

All parties involved are using the latest versions of Adobe products.

    Is the font embedded, or are you depending on the font as installed on the machines (so is it installed also)?

    Embedded - very few people actually have it installed on their machines. It's our brand font, so we are supposed to use it in all publications.

    Do they have the selection of local fonts on in their Acrobat or Reader? That might cause a problem with the font. Is it a vector font or a space-wasting bitmap font?

    Ok, it is a vector font. - OTF to be specific.

    All I know to check (as long at the font is embedded as you say) it the use of local fonts only. If that is checked, it might be the problem. The selection is under

    Look right in the middle of the screen. May not do the job, but worth a check.

    Thanks so much, Bill - is that Local Fonts Only option in the computer making the document, or the computer on the other end trying to open it?
