Editing iPhone's UIStatusBarStyle

Hey everyone,

 

I was wondering, is it possible to edit the iPhone's UIStatusBarStyle instead of the default presets (i.e Opaque Black).

 

Initially I thought of just creating the customized status bar in my app, but I have no clue on how to code the operator's name, signal strength, 3G, battery life etc etc that's on the status bar.
