Adobe Application Manager wants to reinstall installed programs

I have all my Adobe apps installed on J: as my OS drive is SSD. AAm is not recognising them as being installed. Win7 64.

Did you install them through AAM in the first place? If not, it may simply not have the proper info (though it should scan the caps.db fiel and even recognize separately installed programs). Perhaps you should consider trashing the database so it will scan again when you sign in fresh:

C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

Ok, tried that but it appears to rebuild the database before it allowed me to choose the install location in preferences..I was watching the folder. I'm re-installing Acrobat ATM to see if that triggers a rebuild. Just noticed Lightroom is avaliable for download, so it's not all bad...

Just installed Lightroom, and even with preferences pointing to J:\Adobe, it installed to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.1

Sounds strange, but if the apps run properly, it's probably not much too worry about - until the next time you need to instal lsomething at least.
