MediaInfo on an XDCAM-EX file that won't open in PrPro6 due to "missing codecs"

Jun 26, 2012 11:23 AM

Had a friend do the edit on a video for me in PP5.5 on the Mac. I'm doing the final grading and audio master in PP6 on the PC. All the footage was shot with my JVC GY-HM700u in XDCAM-EX and has worked just fine for me on my system... I gave him .mp4 files, and they've all come back to me as .mov files, and PrPro says it doesn't have the required codec. I'm not willing to do the final work on his systems cause they're old iMacs... my PC has multiple RAID arrays, 24GB ram, good CPU, etc and screams on the audio mastering and grading.

Here's the MediaInfo on one of the files:

Have him export out an EDL and give that to you instead.  You both have the same original MP4s, so it should not be a problem.

Be Aware there is a bug many people are experiencing in PPCS6 with Sony EX1 and EX3 video clips.  The same files play great in CS5.5 have random inconsistent horizontal tears in CS6.01. Adobe has exknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. I have experienced this problem with video from an EX1 others are reporting video shot EX3 and Canon camera are effected by this. I must go back to CS5.5.2 to eliminate the problem.
