Dependable combobox

I wonder is there a way to link an external xml data to a ComboBox to list all catagory[distinct], and on selecting an item in the ComboBox it list all prroducts related in a List component. I have been looking for to leanr and do for over 5 weeks but I could not do it. Appreciate your time and help.
