When I updated to Flashplayer version, 11.3.300.262, the accept/deny box just sits in the middle of video screen. Can't click, can't move, can't close, can't even view the full box options... The inert box just sits in the middle of the movie screen. With the immediately previous version of Flashplayer 11, all my videos played perfectly, without this accept/deny box. Can someone give me a link to download the immediately previous version of Flash 11? Or some other earlier version of v.11? For now, I'm back to v. 10.2.152.32, but many websites demand newer version to see videos (including adobe.com!). I'm runing Win7 on a pc.
Probably this FAQ may help you.
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

Thank you, Hitomi, Chris...
I just installed Flashplayer 11.2.202.233 for Win 64bit... (two versions prior to the one where the problem box started appearing). Didn't fix the problem. Then, duh, I switched to ie browser, instead of my usual firefox browser, and this version of flash works fine in ie browser. Works fine in Chrome too. So it appears to be a firefox problem. Anyone have any tips re. newest version of Firefox browser? Maybe I'll have to bug the Firefox people for a bug fix... Thanks for your help. Good to know about the Flashplayer archives, and how to do the clean uninstall if ever I decide to do that.
Hi folks (Jeromle, Hitomi, Chris),
Having uninstalled the Flaskplayer 11.3.300.262 (not a clean uninstall, however), and installed the 10.2.152.32 version instead, the accept/deny box persists; now it's crept into Internet Explorer and Chrome. Here's screenshot of problem in Chrome browser. Hope you can see the box (which is unclickable, immovable). Still a problem in Firefox too. So apparently it's not a browser issue. I read all the Mozilla Firefox general fixes, none of the addresses this little box. I'm guessing, in my semi-amateur way, that what I really need to do is a clean uninstall/reinstall of FlashPlayer, but not the very newest edition. Any more suggestions? (I can crop the screenshot and insert a higher res image if you can't make out this one.)
Thanks in advance.
Gotcha. This is bug where an instance of our clickjacking logic is being overly protective.
There are a bunch of attacks that researchers have identified over the years where you could either trick people into authorizing camera/mic or local storage, or clicking the buttons for them through other techniques. We do all this math to make sure that the clicks on those buttons are genuine, but sometimes it breaks in the too-much-protection way. It's better than the not-enough-protection way, but understandably frustrating. We continue to refine our techniques around preventing clickjacking and are moving to things to native UI where we can.
This prompt is displayed because you have Local Storage Settings set to Block All Sites from storing information on this computer, or Ask me before allowing new sites to save information on this computer.
There's a couple ways you can avoid this. You can prevent the dialog from being thrown, or you can try and either reposition the dialog or try clicking around a little bit in the button to see if you can move out of the dead spot (that approach is hit-and-miss, but quick to try):
1.) Modify your global settings to either Allow sites to save information on this computer, or Block All Sites from storing information on this computer (From Start > Control Panel > Flash Player)
When browing in Private Browsing/Incognito mode, any information that we save will be discarded at the end of your browsing session.
Setting this to Allow to avoid the prompt, and using private browsing mode would get you a similar effect.
Periodically hitting Delete All in the storage tab will remove any of the local settings and shared objects that may be stored on your machine.
2.) Proactively enable storage for this domain. That will work on the immediate issue.
Refresh the page. Before you hit play and get the prompt, right-click and choose settings. Authorize some storage space for democracynow.org. The prompt won't get displayed.
3.) Change your resolution.
Most of these bugs are resolution specific. You can temporarily change the resolution, but that's a pretty lame workaround.
So, it's definitely a bug.
The following information would help me reproduce it:
1.) What version of Chrome are you running
2.) What is the resolution of your display (Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution)
3.) On Control Panel > Display > do you have 100%, 125% or 150% selected?
Thanks!
Hi Jeromie,
The "allow sites" change seemed to do the trick. I can now watch videos without the immovable, inert "allow/deny" box. I'm speaking of viewing in Mozilla Firefox.
Good to know you delete stored info after a viewing. Too much info sharing going on, as I'm sure you're aware. And, if I right-click the play button before playing, I can see the settings option, and then can click the allow/deny box to close it.
The version of Chrome I had was 19.0.1084.56 m, and now that I'm looking at it, Chrome is installing a newer version. Videos work now in Chrome, without inert accept/deny box. I can right click on play button and see settings, and close the accept/deny box.
The resolution of my display is the recommended resolution for my year-old HP Pavilion slimline computer (desktop, not laptop) -- 1680x1050.
Much thanks for your help.
As long as you're using Private Browsing or Incognito mode, any information stored on your machine will be purged when you exit private browsing mode, or the browser itself.
The global privacy settings apply for all browsers on your system, so the dialog shouldn't pop anywhere at this point.
I'm able to reproduce this issue when setting my resolution tio 1680x1050.
I filed the following bug to track it:
