I just installed Elements 10 (from disks). When I try to start a new project in Premiere 10 though, it initializes and starts loading until it gets to "Loading ImporterQuickTime.prm". Then it just stops and nothing happens. I have Windows 7 (64bit). Elements and Organizer seem to work fine. Can anyone help?
Have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have SP1 as well as any non-critical updates (which don't load automatically, but which can include important drivers)?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple?
Have you cleaned and defragged your hard drive?
Along with Steve's suggestions, this ARTICLE might also be useful. It starts with a checklist to get PrE working best, then moves onto tuning up one's OS and computer, and finally gives links to assist in troubleshooting.
Thank you all for your advice. I tried eveything on the list without success. I also tried reinstalling the software. Still no help. The problem is that when it gets to loading the plug-in: "ImporterQuickTime.prm" it stops. Interestingly, when I go to the location of this plug-in, I see that it was installed last year, probably in conjunction with an earlier version. I'm wondering if there might be a problem with this plug-in, but I don't know how to check it or update it. Can anyone help?
Sorry that nothing has worked so far.
What version of Apple's QT Player do you have installed?
Usually, several versions of PrE can coexist quite nicely, with not an issue. Now, as for the date of the file, maybe Steve, or someone with PrE 10, can check out the date of their ImporterQuickTime.prm, to see when it was written, as can often happen, a program might use an older file, if nothing has changed. Also, PrE 10 was coded more than a year ago now
What is the date, and file size of your ImporterQuickTime.prm?
Thank you for your help. I have QT v. 7.7.2 and ImporterQuickTime.prm is dated 9/2/11 and is 244kb.
Looking at the many posts on this topic, it appears to be a universal issue – at least with people running Premiere 10 in 64 bits on a Lenovo computer. There does not appear to be a solution out there at this time. Not sure what to do . . .
