Oh computers, computers! They are amazing things but yet cause me so much pain! I have successfully put PSE10 and all my photos on my new PC without hitch. Just as I was sitting back with a smug self congratulatory grin on my face, I have noticed that the program will load up fine the first time (set to launch organiser), then if I close the program and re-open it just opens in the task bar below and won't show on the screen. I simply right click and close (I get no restore option), then relaunch the program and hey presto it opens fine. I can repeat this cycle of closing and opening and the alternate full opening and just in the task bar happens consistently.
I know it's not a major kick in the teeth, but I would like to not have to go through the double opening saga every other time. Any ideas?

Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
The Editor's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The Organizer's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.
When you launch a PSE program from the Unwelcome Screen and then close the PSE program, the Unwelcome Screen is still running. It doesn't show up anywhere unless you use
Task Manager's "Processes" tab to see it and kill it.
I'm not at my pc now, but I have the feeling that the issue is the first starting of the program. Ie when I start the pc and then start pse10 it just shows in the task bar and won't open. A right click and close then a 2nd launch works fine. Then alternates from there with the not opening and opening.
As above, now at my PC, I'm correct. It's the first time I try and load the program it only opens to the task bar and won't fully open. A right click and close and it then opens fine the second time.
So can this zombie process be the culprit? My PSE10 is not open at the moment but there is a "PhotoshopElementsFileAgent.exe *32" in my processes.
Photoshop Elements File Agent is seen in the Processes tab when you start PSE. When you close PSE it goes away. I checked it on my machine and can confirm this (normal) behavior.

With mine the file agent stays open in processes until I manually end process. But that makes no difference to the alternate loading and not loading of the program.
The only other thing that seems related is in the services tab which is adobe active file monitor
just a further bit of info - I stated that after a restart of the PC the first try at loading failed then second load of PSE10 worked....... to update this it is totally alternate, restart or not. The reason for me thinking the first load of PSE10 failed was that I always had it fully open before restarting. If I finish my session on a failed load, then it starts first time next time the PC is turned on.....
It aint make or break, just bloody annoying and I'm keen to sort the issue as I'm feeling determined to get my new kick *** PC as spot on as possible!
As I understand it, you're launching the Editor from a Desktop shortcut that you created. The first time you launch the Editor it opens to the Taskbar. Subsequent launches open the Editor normally. Do I have that right?
Are you using multiple monitors?
The only other thing I can think of is to check the properties of the icon you're using to launch the Editor, and on the "Shortcut" tab ensure the "Run" property is set to "Normal window".
You almost have it right ken. The pse10 opens alternately. Task bar, open, task bar open, task bar, open etc etc. this sequence is un interrupted even after computer shutdown.
I have checked the shortcut icon as you suggested. It is as it should be. If I remember correctly I had this issue with pse8 on my old pc. Never really chased that issue up.
Yep, there have been others with problems using multiple monitors. I don't remember their solutions, if any, but you can try searching this forum or the Adobe Web site for "multiple monitors".
It might also require contacting Adobe tech support.
