Bait and switch Adobe?

I saw a special Adobe Cloud offer for existing customers today: $27/mo!

I am living in Japan, so I quickly calculated and it was about 2,150~2,200 Yen/mo. NICE!!

 

I continued to subscribe and bam! price changed to 3,000 Yen/mo ($37.5)

 

Nice treat, I feel really special, NOT!

    At the bottom of the English language page is a drop-down menu to change the language you are reading the offer. If you change it to Japanese,the 3000 yen offer price is displayed.

     

    They didn't bait and switch.

     

    They just didn't tell you directly you had to change the language to get the offer for your country.

    Interesting, and thank you for posting.

     

    As I am in the US, so not location, or monetary change, I would never have thought of that. I would have no clue how to help the OP.

    The page in question is https://creative.adobe.com/plans It should display Japanese as the language and Japanese yen as the currency by default if in Japan.It might display in English/USD by default and if it did for Ueda,it would be easy to assume that offer was applicable to Japan if selected.

     

    It isn't. If in Japan,you are directed to the Adobe Japan store and pay the local yen rates for the Cloud subscriptions.

     

    That's what clued me into checking the language dropdown menu. There is also a "select currency" dropdown menu. (upper left)  where you can see (but not pay) the other currency rates.

     

    I'm used to buying products online from Japan and the UK,so maybe that's why I figured it out.

    Gene,

     

    I have to deal with some similar issues, on UK-based airlines Web sites (same for UK/Euro lodging sites), where, though coming to them via the US portal, I have to check the monetary description to make sure I am looking at US$.

     

    Still, would never have thought of that on the Adobe site, until you educated me. Won't affect me, but now I know how to help others, thanks to your reply.
