I uninstalled the Inspiration Browser from my program list as instructed and have tried to download the updated version a number of times. Each time, I get Error #1009 below the "Install Now" click on box. I'm new to Elements and have no idea where to go from here. I can't even find out what the error message means or refers to.
No, I did not uninstall Adobe AIR. The instructions said to uninstall the Browser, so that's what I did.
I'll go look for that program on the system. Should I uninstall it when I find it then try Inspiration again?
I went back and uninstalled AIR, rebooted the computer and still have the same problem. There are two "loading" symbols on a download screen. One is at the bottom and says"Gathering User Information"
and the other is in a gray box on the right and seems to be a loading or search function. Both keep running (i.e. in motion) and never quit and show anything else. If I try to download the Browser, I still get the Error #1009 message on the Install Now box that comes up when I click the download button. Very frustrating.
Many thanks for your help! Any other ideas?
Windows 7 - 64 bit
PSE 10 - received as a gift and recently loaded onto the computer. I have set up my account for the software with Adobe and all that seems fine...I've checked it several times.
When I opened PSE I was told by a message in the dialogue box that came up that I should upgrade to a newer version of Inspiration Browser. When I went to the download screen, I followed the step by step instructiions, exactly.
I opened my programs menu, found the Browser and uninstalled it. I rebooted my computer and then tried the download and when a screen with an "Install Now" click-on box came up, I clicked on it and instead of a download and install, I got the aforementioned "Error 1009" below the box. I tried the download several times with the same result.
Following your suggestion, I went back and uninstalled AIR and rebooted my computer, opened PSE got the invitation to upgrade the Browser, again followed the instructions to the letter and got the same result.: Error 1009.
That's where it's at right now.
Try installing the IB outside of PSE. In other words, now that you've uninstalled both the IB and Adobe AIR and rebooted, log out of your Adobe account, then use Task Manager's "Processes" tab to be sure that nothing from Adobe or PhotoshopElements is running.
Then use this link to install IB:
Thank You! That worked! When I went to "Processes" in TM I found that the organizer was running. I closed it and then tried the download. Worked like a charm.
I'm a new PSE user and totally new to this forum and I'd like to say a big thanks to you and Barbara for pitching in on this.
Problem solved in about 12 hours on a weekend...outstanding!
You guys are the best!
Followed your instructions as above and still can't load either Adobe Air or Inspiration Browser. Still getting error #1009. Finally was able to install Adobe Air thru Adobe site but still can't get Inspiraton Browser loaded. Still getting error message saying a download error occurred. Try to download again? Any more suggestions. Thanks!
