Please watch the video so you can see what is happening. I've never run into this problem before and I've been editing for a good while. What could have caused this to happen? My specs are also shown in the video. Thanks for the help in advance!
*EDIT* I should also note that the playback does not lag when there is only one video in the timeline. For some reason FRAPS makes it lag anyway.
The codec is the compression scheme used to create the files. DV, HDV and AVCHD are video codecs, MP3 and AAC are audio codecds.
Different codecs require varying amounts of horsepower from the CPU in order to play smoothly inside of PP. Your system actually isn't all that powerful by comparrison, and you're not using standardized video codecs from supported video cameras here, so the combination of the two factors could very easily be creating the choppy playback you're seeing.
Your project sequence must match your video for proper editing... just as you do not put diesel into a gasoline car and expect it to run
