Help! Premiere Pro CS6.0.1 can't render to NTSC DV AVI!!

Hi,

 

I have just upgraded to Premiere Pro CS 6 and updated to 6.0.1. I loaded a CS 5.5 project and then tried to export to NTSC DV AVI (this particular project requires this setting). However, even with the default settings, nothing happens! What am I doing wrong?

    What does "nothing happens" mean to those of us that are not actually in front of your system or can read your mind via the internet?

    Well, this dialog box appears and...

     

    Nothing happens.png

     

    ...no rendering is done. I *just* rendered this in CS 5.5. I know what should happen, but the progress bar does not move. No data is displayed. A 204KB file is written to the hard drive, but that's about it. Hence, as I said, nothing happens.

    Is that a six and a half hour .avi you're trying to render?

    Just looking at the time listed in your render dialog.

     

    I personally have never seen a dv .avi that long. Depending on the source material, if it works at all, it could take a long time.

     

    If it is in fact that long, you might try to break that up into a little more digestable chunks.

    No, the work area is just the first 1'11" of that. I just deleted the other footage (for testing) and it worked.

     

    What am I doing wrong, then? The handles include just the footage I need...

    ...and the Source Range is set to "Work Area" (which is 1'11" long):

    Did you have it set to "work area" in the render dialog?

    Do you have 15 gb of free space on the target drive for a 1hr11min video?

    Corrupted files on the timeline? (might be presenting video or audio glitches.)

    You might try puting the part that you intend to render into a new sequence , then export that.

    Stephen,

     

    1. Yes, I do have it set to "Work Area" (see screenshot above).

     

    2. If I understand correctly, "00;01;11;00" is 1 minute and 11 seconds (I mistyped earlier).

     

    3. As I already explained, if I deleted everything after the work area, the file renders OK. It just refuses to render the work area with additional material present. Does this make sense?

    Yes, that trick (putting the smaller part into a new sequence) does work...but what about exporting parts of projects? It should do this. It's quite frustrating.
