We have a client that is asking for a possibility of having two different types of modal windows that they can turn on and off when important travel information is required to be displayed to their users that will overlay on their home page.
One modal window will be for minor news announcements and the other for high importance news announcements with the user clicking ok to close.
Has anyone seen or know if this is possible on a BC site? Remember, the client want's to be able to turn these modal updates on and off.
Any ideas would be great.
Cheers,
Chris.
Hello Chris,
Wondering if you've found a solution for this.
I was thinking you could make a web app that used the jQuery dialog, then let the client just put an individual web app item on the home page when they want to have the pop up.
This way it is more like one type of modal window and the client can show whatever they want when they want, and turn it off by removing the module.
You can place the module inside a content holder so they do not mess up any template or page content.
Hope this helps,

It is easier if you build seperate homepage templates which somoene can easily just go into the page itself and choose if they want an alert to show or not and just as you said Chad with the webapp change the details of the message, maybe even style options of it as well etc as well.
Hi Chad,
No solid solution yet, your idea sounded really good and our design will have some space for a content holder to be inserted and removed without the client clicking around to much.
Liam, as the client wants to "turn this on and off" at their choosing, probably easier for them to insert and remove a webapp then change out the default landing page.
Thanks for all your ideas!
P.S when we work this out and the site is finished, I'll post a link.
Cheers,
Chris.
Yeah, was. Crazy day! LOTS of partners turned up, was pretty cool to see, got my head spinning though.
I saw food and drink around, watched it disapear talking to people ^^
Anyway, Yeah, a template on the page with the things in they can just change quickly is something I not really tried until recently for some reason as been doing things through web apps etc but came up recently and actually was nice and easy for the client.
It is more templates which I do try to minimise, but in some cases, like this it could be nice and simple to use.
