Availability checker search

Hi everyone!

 

I would like to know if there is a way of creating an "availability checker/search". It is an act/band/entertainment website so we would like a search box on the home page where people can choose the date which they would like an act and an option to choose the type of act e.g. a comedian or a rock band. And when they press search it will list the acts which are in the category they chose and available on the date they specified.

 

Some examples are:

 

http://www.alivenetwork.com/

 

http://www.dgmusic.co.uk/

 

I have no idea where to start and most of the site has already been designed so I can't move to a "CMS" as some people have suggested, so I need to find a way of doing it in dreamweaver.

 

Any advice will be much appreciated!!

    You could build it yourself, but you would need to be highly skilled in SQL and server side scripting. I think you'll be better off buying a premade script. Try searching the web for  "booking calendar scripts"

    I've tried searching for everything. If you put in "booking calender scripts" usually all that comes up is the availability calenders which is not wht I want.

     

    If anyone knows of such a script of what I want I would be very gratefull

    You might be able to cobble something together with Spry Data Sets.

    Ok thanks Nancy for the reply. I know I can create forms and such with that to filter stuff, but how would I get it to display results when someone clicks 'search'?

    Ok i've created a spry data set with an xml file but I need to include links. how would I do that in the xml file?
