"Don't import duplicates" still importing duplicates

Lightroom 4.1, MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7.4

 

I can import a card, eject the card, plug the card back in and Lightroom STILL wants to import the photos it just imported. Of course the checkbox for "Don't import suspected duplicates" is ticked.

 

So why is Lightroom still trying to import images it already has when I'm telling it not to.

 

There are references to similar issues on other threads, but I haven't yet found an answer or solution.
