I was recently introduced to the Flash output options of Encore, and I love it. Basically on online DVD with navigation.
The Encore project is fairly simple. One timeline with 44 chapters. One additional audio/language track (which doesn't really matter for the flash output).
I am experiencing one problem though. When playing the flash video, between each chapter there is a dropout, pause, glitch. I can't see it in the video, but I can hear it in the audio. For example, I start from ch 1 and just let the video play. At each chapter point, I hear a pause or dropout in the audio. The audio is a song that continues between chapters, so that is how I can hear it.
My guess is that because each chapter is broken down into separate flash files, when the player switches to the next chapter, the discontinuity is created while switching to the next file.
Is there a solution to this problem or am I doing something wrong?
The original source AV file that was imported as a timeline was a 1080 mpeg2 file. Yes Encore is transcoding it. I notice during the transcoding that it transcodes it chapter by chapter.
Nothing special with each chapter, no end actions, etc. The chapters are just points to different time positions of the main timeline. After each chapter, the video just continues to the next chapter. If you start at chapter 1, it will play to the end of the timeline, through all the 44 chapters, then return to main menu.
This does not sound like what I have gotten in the past, but it is now.
Yes, the flash export breaks each chapter into a separate fv4. (Test: what happens with flv?) Yes, as it plays, the video appears uninterrupted, but the audio has a major glitch. (I would say it appears to pause.)
FYI, my test was in CS5.1.
Yes , There are different video files for every chapter .
There are some bug fixes around this area in CS6 , glitch when jump to one chapter to another is smoother in CS6 .
If you have CS6 just give it a try.
Thanks for the info.
New project in CS6. Still a dropout between chapters when playing back timeline in flash export.
Test was with a bars and tones ntsc sd created in PR, exported as MPEG2-DVD. First play menu, button to timeline.
Because of the very steady tone, this probably shows the problem at its worst. And it is pronounced.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and Stan for recreating this. Looks like this issue is not fixed yet, so I don't have much hope for a resolution. Kind of notches down my excitement for this feature. My version is 22.214.171.1248.
The ears are a lot harder to fool than the eyes. Video glitches can hide, but not audio glitches.
