I just downloaded Adobe 10.1.3. After the download finished a window came up with something about making sure I had something, don't remember now, and I tried to locate that window again without success. After the download finished, I tried to launch the program and nothing happened. What do I need to do?
I didn't purchase Adobe Acrobat, it was on the machine when it was given to me. I tried to install Adobe 10 (don't know if it was reader, thought it was just an update of Acrobat) I don't remember any errors, just couldn't get it to "launch". When I download a PDF Adobe with open, and then I get an error message that says something to the affect that Adobe can't open this file, that something is missing. So I thought I needed an update. I used to be able to open PDF's, but all of the sudden it quit.
I hope this is enough info to help. Is there another program I can use for PDF's?
Use the Acrobat/Reader cleaner: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then re-install Reader.
For the cleaner I went to the link, hit download it showed that it did download. But when I tried to find it to open it I couldn't. Before that I tried to open it from the download window and it wouldn't open.
Do I need to completely uninstall Adobe Acrobat and download Adobe 10.1.3 to start all over again. I really need to get somethings in PDF form and can't.
If you download other files are you able to locate them successfully? What if you try a different web browser? You may also want to try going to Start>Control Panels and select Add/Remove Programs. From there you can select to uninstall/remove Adobe Reader/Adobe Acrobat from there.
It still is not clear from this thread though if you are attempting to utilize Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat? You mentioned having Adobe Acrobat 5 but then discuss the 10.1.3 update. What do you have listed exactly in Add/Remove Programs?
I have mentioned several times that it is Adobe Acrobat. Is 10.1.3 Adobe Acrobat?
I went to add/remove programs and can't find Adobe there at all? I don't understand why if it isn't there, does it pop up when I download a PDF only to not be able to access it? This is all so confusing.
bmw1978 I have moved this discussion to the Acrobat Installation & Update Issues forum. Is it possible that you have used a registry cleaner and/or a system optimizer which could have removed the entry from your Add/Remove Programs Control Panel?
