Need to add an rss/widget to site

Tags: #external_rss #rss_feed

I have a website thru BC that someone else set up for me.  I want to add a widget to the site.  I've tried pasting the html code into the html page, but nothing is happening.

I'm a pretty quick learner... would love to know more.

There are no rss channel in the Module manager and I can't figure out how to get it there...

Any help appreciated

    Hi,

You should have the ability to generate a RSS channel within BC using our module below.

    - http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/business-catalyst/partner/add-c ontent-rss-feed.html

I'll leave this thread open to the community if wanting solutions on inserting custom RSS widgets.

    Kind regards,

    -Sidney

Most likely its due to the site plan as webBasic and weBasic+ does not offer the RSS module.

The option is to either upgrade to a higher plan (webMarketing or above) or as you've initially inquired to embed a custom RSS feed.

Please note html/css is outside our support scope but if using something like this below and adding to a page or template within your site this should work.

Do you have the page that you are testing on so we can look into what you have at the moment?

I think you mean you want to add a feed from someone else's site? I assume this because if you don't have the rss tools, you likely don't have content such as blogs or news modules either.

If you are trying to add a feed from an external source there is no way to do that with BC directly. I have used Google Feeds to add external RSS feeds to my sites with no issues and they are easy to style as well.

You shouldn't need Google Feeds for that feed. You should be able to copy and paste that code onto your page no problem. Remember to paste it into the HTML code where you want it - not the design view.

The plan shouldn't matter for that. Just to show I set up a site with the lowest plan possible and added the feed to it.

No it will not show up in design view. Design view is just an editor not an actual browser. The Javascript requires a browser to display it.

Save the page and check it in a browser and it will be there. ;-)
